Sulzone is an injectable antibiotic, a combination of a beta-lactam 3rd generation cephalosporin, Cefoperazone Sodium and beta-lactamase inhibitor Sulbactam sodium; available in 1:1 ratio. Sulzone (Cefoperazone/Sulbactam) is first line empiric therapy for the treatment of polymicrobial infections and Nosocomial infections. Sulzone (Cefoperazone/Sulbactam) was introduced for the 1st time in Pakistan by Biocare Pharmaceutica in which we are both brand and market leader. Biocare Pharmaceutica is currently selling around 70,000-750,000 vials per month.


Indications:

Nosocomial pneumonia, COPD, urinary tract infections, surgical site infections, Intra abdominal infections like cholycystitis , peritonitis, SSTIs Diabetic Foot Infections, Hip Surgery, Wound Infections, Burn wound complications, Bacterial Sepsis, Febrile Neutropenia, Gynecological Infections and Pediatric Nosocomial Infections

Dosage Guidelines:

The recommended therapeutic dose of Sulzone is 2 gm given 12 hourly, Prophylaxis 1 gm bid and Maximum dose 8 gm/day.

Availability:

Sulzone (Cefoperazone/Sulbactam) is available in 1 gm and 2 gm vials for IM/IV that should be reconstituted appropriately before administration.

Storage:

Sulzone (Cefoperazone/Sulbactam) 1 gm & 2 gm vial should be stored below 25 ˚C and protected from light.
