MEROSOL is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent of the carbapenem family, indicated as empirical therapy (prior to the identification of causative organisms), or for disease caused by single or multiple susceptible bacteria in both adults and children with a broad range of serious infections.


Indications:

MEROSOL (Meropenem) has a broad spectrum of in vitro activity against Gram-positive and Gramnegative pathogens, including extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-and AmpC producing Enterobacteriaceae. MEROSOL has excellent efficacy in cIAI, cSSSI, febrile neutropenia, complicated UTI, obstetric or gynaecological infections and severe CAP, nosocomial pneumonia, cystic fibrosis experiencing acute pulmonary exacerbations, and septicemia. MEROSOL has shown excellent efficacy in pediatric and adult patients with bacterial meningitis.

Availability:

MEROSOL (Meropenem) is available in 500 mg and 1 gm vials for IM/IV that should be reconstituted appropriately before administration. MEROSOL 500 mg has 2 x 5ml ampules of water for injection while MEROSOL 1 gm has 20 ml vial of water for injection.

Reconstitution:

500 mg Vial: 10 ml Sterile Water/Saline.
1 gm Vial: 20 ml Sterile Water/Saline.

Dosage Guidelines:

Adult Dosage:

Usual Dosage | 500 mg – 1 gm, 8 Hourly.
Bacterial Meningitis | 2 gm, 8 Hourly.

Pediatric Dosage:

Usual Dosage | 10 mg – 20mg/Kg, 8 Hourly.
Bacterial Meningitis | 2 gm, 8 Hourly.

Storage:

MEROSOL (Meropenem) 500 mg and 1 gm vial should be stored below 25 ˚C and protected from light.
