Vancomed for injection is an antibiotic brand of Vancomycin Hcl, which represents the therapeutic class of glycopeptides. Hisun (Vancomycin Hcl) is as consider drug of choice for the treatment of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a gram positive organism in involve in hard to treat infections. Hisun (Vancomycin Hcl) susceptibility is also proven in number of gram positive pathogens. In Pakistan Hisun (Vancomycin Hcl) is well accepted by clinicians and is now recommended as an important therapeutic choice by virtue of its clinical significance and economy.

Indications:

Skin and soft tissues, Osteomyelitis, diabetic foot infections, Bacteremia, Septicemia, Neonatal Sepsis, Cardiac surgery, Prosthetic surgeries, and in Hemodialysis Infections. Beside MRSA, clinical efficacy of Vancomed is well documented for the treatment of Endocarditis.

Dosage Guidelines:

The recommended therapeutic dose of Vancomed is 2 gm given either as 500 mg every 6 hourly or 1 gram every 12 hourly. Vancomed should be reconstituted before administration.

Availability:

Vancomed is available in pack containing 500 mg and 1 gm vials with WFI for IV usage.

Storage:

Vancomed should be stored at or below 25˚C in a cool dark and dry place.
